I'm in De Standaard Magazine today and I reckon there are worse things to wake up for on a Saturday morning. Last week I got an e-mail from journalist Anja Otte stating that I had won their 'Modepuzzel' contest. She asked me if I could meet her and photographer Marleen Daniëls in Antwerp on Saturday to shoot pictures for this (in my opinion) sort of infamous section of De Standaard Magazine (I mean, it's one of the first things I read on weekends, I live for all the designer name dropping). Obviously, I did not say no.
I don't know whether you've noticed but I'm not exactly a cool person. My head was full of exclamation points and excited smileys from Thursday through Friday and picking out an outfit seemed like mission impossible to me. What is the right outfit anyway? The perfect one that represents you and all of your quirks? I don't think such a thing exists and so I opted for the easy way out.

I brought along some of my favourite dresses along and asked them to help me choose. I ended up with this gorgeous vintage dress that I've worn and reworn to death since I was fifteen. It's not the most original layer on layer or print clashing combination (I don't do those, although I wish I could) but I feel like it does represent the way I dress in general.
And then there's the interview. I always feel like the most dull person when people ask me questions about myself or how I would define my style. The best style icon I could come up was Alexa Chung. I do love me some Chung be I mean, who doesn't? I'm horrible at talking about myself or referencing my style in an adequate way but Anja really made me feel at ease. Which basically resulted in me outing myself as the world's biggest mommy's child at the age of eighteen.
Overall, I really loved the experience and I'm very grateful to Anja and Marleen for making me appear semi-likeable, so thanks a lot. And when I say a lot, I mean a lot! - x
